| Iwate Prefectural Museum was established
in October, 1980 in commemoration of the
100th anniversary of the establishment of
Iwate. This museum has a comprehensive collection
of materials concerning archaeology, history,
folklore, and natural science. The museum
deals with the collection, research and preservation
of cultural materials, and also provides
educational opportunities through lectures
and open-air nature studies. These activities
and exhibits provide the public with in-depth
